Humidifier Review

By Steve Orris

This is my own humidifier review.  These are my experiences with the named humidifiers.  I am not a testing facility and I realize that others may have very different results.  That said, I will review two different humidifiers here.

See all 2 photos

The first humidifier is from ReliOn model RCM-832N. And I dare say that I will not rely on them ever again. I bought one of these units at Walmart for $25.00. I placed it in our bedroom and it worked great. It was rated for 24-36 hours with a capacity of 1.25 gallons. It is for a small room. It is a cool mist vaporizer which is important if you have small kids running around and you are concerned about safety. The hot mist vaporizers are not safe for little fingers. Because this unit worked well I bought two more, one for the other bedroom and one for the office. Neither of the other two units worked. It’s not that the fan didn’t blow air. It did move air but it was dry. The filter never absorbed the water so air was moving through a dry filter. It works great for getting the dust out of the air but that wasn’t the purpose of this purchase. I have a furnace filter to do that. So out of three humidifiers from ReliOn two are being returned.

The other humidifier in my review is a unit from Sunbeam, model SCM1747-UM. Also from Walmart, this unit was $32.00. In addition to being a cool mist humidifier this unit also has a filter that has been treated with Arm & Hammer. There is a gauge that lets you know when to change the filter. You can control the level of humidity as well as the air flow with a three speed fan control. On high speed this unit puts a lot of water in the air quickly. You don’t see the vapor but the level of water in the reservoir goes down within hours. I am very happy with this unit and although others have had problems with it mine works great.

I hope you find this humidifier review helpful. If you have a few minutes for something a bit more humorous, read a toaster oven review with a computer operating system perspective.  Or my mistaken identity phone call titled I need help.

Nice review! Perhaps pros and cons on the next product reviews, where to buy, links to sites? Just saying. Nice hub, though.
